Top Five Tips to Destress & Create A Relaxing Home

|

Hey! I’m back with my top 5 ways to de-stress at home. I don’t know about you but for me it’s back to school season and while I love the fresh start it provides & the school supplies (because yes, I’m a stationery geek), it also stresses me out.  That, combined with the stresses of everyday life, can really add up to the point where I quickly need a breather!

So these are a few of the things I like to do to relax. I mean when a quick trip to a Bermuda beach isn’t an option. ?

#1. When it’s time to unwind at night, I like to light some candles to create warmth. It sets the tone for a relaxing mood.  All types of candles (electric too), incandescent twinkle lights, a fireplace, etc. can all help to create the cozy atmosphere that helps us all relax.

#2. I like to surround myself with my favorites. Favorite snacks, favorite drinks, favorite blanket. Anything that makes me feel comfy & cozy.

#3. Zone out – turn off the phone, emails, & texts and learn to drown out the world.  It really helps us to disconnect from the major stressors in life.  Because the reality is, they will all be right there waiting for you when you turn the phones back on in the morning, so give yourself a break.

#4. Entertainment can easily help us unwind.  For some, that might be mindless tv, music, or a good book.  Find whatever suits you and make it a habit to set some time aside to enjoy it at the end of a long & stressful day.

#5. Connect with those you love.  That might be a date night, movie or game night with the kids, or a long walk with your dog.  Reconnecting with those we hold dear really does refuel us on a deeper level and can help to set your mind at ease.

I hope these tips are helpful for you.  Also, feel free to comment and share some things that you like to do to unwind after a busy day.  I’d love to hear them!
