Dorm Decor: Not-Quite-’Grown up’ Bedroom
Quilt / Rug / Floor Lamp / Desk / Nightstand
My beautiful stepdaughter recently graduated high school, and I’m so proud of her! Since she’s growing up, we figured her bedroom could use some real sprucing so that it looks like a space fit for a stylish young lady. Even though she won’t be starting college for another year, I still figured a room filled with dorm decor would be a nice transition to adulthood for her. Since we moved in 3-1/2 years ago, her room has basically looked the same – Behr Lavender Lace paint color on the walls, posters of Jonas Brothers, One Direction, Justin Bieber, and countless others all over the walls, and no real style to speak of. Well, all that’s changing now. Here’s the vision board I came up with for her room. It’s a small space, so it’s going to take some creativity to cram everything in that she needs & loves. Her wishlist includes a spot to work on her art & to display that art, a place to hang posters, a place for her scarves, purses, hats, etc., and just an overall ‘pretty’ space.
The Lavender Lace color is staying because it really is a great color. In this room, it almost looks white so it reads as a neutral backdrop. I plan to incorporate more shades of purple & pink with pops of turquoise, but my aim is to keep it from looking too sweet or tween-ish.
This is probably the room I wish I had when I was 18.
