Master Bedroom Mood Board

So, I’ve been working on nailing down the design direction of my master bedroom for quite some time now.  I think it’s quite normal, when moving into a new home, to focus on decorating the common areas (kitchen, living room, etc.) before we really think to pay attention to the rooms we might spend the most time in – our bedrooms.  Though I know I won’t be able to call this room “finished” for quite some time, I can still begin to carve out the direction for the space.

I posted this mood board for the room back in December when I first began seriously considering a dark paint color for the walls.  I’ve since morphed that vision into one that better reflects my sense of style.  As I was thinking about how I wanted the room to make me feel, my mind quickly related that feeling to the same way a really cozy outfit on a Saturday afternoon would make me feel.

And this is what I came up with…

It’s stylish, well coordinated, and certainly my style – complete with one of my favorite nail colors, Jam N Jelly by Essie.  The denim jeans represent the dark wall color (Gibraltar by Sherwin Williams).  The gray sweater represents the comfy gray bedding I have planned, and the brown boots (and I LOVE these boots!) symbolize the warm wood tones that will be in the room, as well.  Many of the room’s accessories will be a mixture of metals but predominantly gold like the spike earrings above, and the polish and scarf add the nice pop of color I’m after.

I’m slowly but surely plugging away at making my vision a reality.  I started painting this past weekend, and I’ve already ordered the La Fiorentina fabric in the wine/magenta colorway.  The makeover won’t be complete anytime soon, but it feels good to finally be making progress.
