Projects In Progress

I have so many unfinished projects, it’s utterly ridiculous. But I wouldn’t be ‘Kim’ if that wasn’t the case.   In an effort to encourage myself to get some stuff checked off around here, I thought it might be helpful (or embarrassing) to list out many of the unfinished projects that I really want to finish up.  Maybe I’ll even get some finished before the year is over….just maybe.

Starting on the first floor of my house, I have a built-in TV stand that my husband and I started quite a few years ago.  Admitting to the actual length of time it’s been in this unfinished state is not gonna happen.  Just know, it’s been quite a long while.  We hit a snag because I wanted to redo the frame on the front of the unit and purchase a kreg jig to make it easier & sturdier.  I bought the Kreg jig but then life got in the way, as it has a tendency of doing.  So here’s where we are now.  

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll notice that I always artfully avoid sharing this spot in any of the photos of my home.  Now that you’re seeing it here, I’m sure you get why.  It’s such an eyesore!  My plan is to get some measurements, take a trip to the hardware store for more wood, and get to work.  It really should only be a day’s work to finish the build and 2-3 days to patch & paint (it’s already primed).  When I put it that way, this sounds like it’ll be pretty easy, right?

I almost ashamed to admit that I still haven’t finished my daughter’s room makeover.  It’s kind of like the story of how the cobbler’s children have no shoes.  I have mostly all the pieces and components on hand.  I just haven’t found the time to finish it off.  We still need to paint the trim, hang the curtains, finish organizing the desk area, and style the shelves over her bed.  It’s not really that much to do, so I don’t think it’ll take long at all.  I just need to get my butt into gear!

Another project I want to tackle is the refrigerator cabinet in my kitchen.  However, that involves so many other things, like the floors and finishing the cabinet molding, that I’m not sure if I’m ready for that just yet.  I’m not even sure if I’m ready to share a picture of it’s current state.  Maybe ticking these other projects off the list will give me the motivation to get started in the kitchen…just maybe.
