Photo A Day: Week 5

This was actually a fun week for photos.  I had a few projects I wanted to capture for you guys and a few happy moments I could capture now that I have an awesome camera.

Photo Bomb

1/27/13:  This one I like to call “Photo Bomb”.  I was trying to take some pics for an upcoming green smoothie post, and this was definitely a blooper!  I guess I was so focused on getting the lighting just right, playing around with using white boards to bounce light around, and just trying to work on composing the picture, that I didn’t realize this little guy lurking in the background.  As soon as I went to snap a few continuous shots (to minimize the blurriness that can come from my hands shaking), he jumped right in!  I couldn’t help but laugh.  That’s a perfect example of life around here.

Fresh Flowers

1/28/13:  I LOVE fresh flowers around the house.  Thanks to Trader Joe’s, I can have beautiful, fresh flowers no matter the season.  The lilies on the bottom left just bloomed last night to the prettiest shade of light pink, so I’m sure this bouquet will last me quite a while.  After the first week or so, I like to split the arrangement up into smaller vases and place them around the house for happy pops of color here and there.

Working From Home

1/29/13:  I was able to work from home Tuesday, so I took the opportunity to fix myself a yummy breakfast.  That hardly ever happens during the week.  This was really around 10am, so technically it could probably be called brunch, which is, hands down, my absolute favorite meal of the day!   I had 2 eggs over easy, sauteed spinach, and a Trader Joe’s hashbrown, with chili sauce on the side, in case you were wondering.

This is my current work setup, but I’m planning to revamp this area really soon. (Stay tuned!)  We do have an office area in the finished basement that we want to update.  But, honestly, it’s a basement and not too inviting right now, so I’m claiming this vanity area in my bedroom as my very own work space.

Acrylic Paint Organization

1/30/13:  I have a ridiculous amount of craft and acrylic paints that I use on various DIY projects.  I decided to attempt to organize them and create little swatches so I can see how the colors dry and how well they play with one another.  I have no idea why I never thought of this before, but this makes it a million times easier to see how certain colors will look when paired together!  I do plan to redo this in a more sophisticated manner, though.  I have a feeling that torn notebook paper may not hold up too well over time. 🙂

Similar Color

1/31/13:  I was excited when I realized that this week’s manicure perfectly matches my repainted thrift store buffet.  I admit I was probably a bit too excited, but when life makes you smile, go with it.  The color on the buffet is Schoolhouse Slate by Martha Stewart Living, and the nail polish color is Sea Spray by China Glaze.

My Angel

2/1/13:  I see absolutely nothing wrong with dressing up in an Angel costume on a random Friday.  Do you?

(I promise this was not at all staged!  She’s quite the actress, with or without a camera present.)

Photo Shoot

2/2/13:  I had a little Valentine’s Day photo shoot with my nephews this morning.  It was interesting, to say the least.  Getting 5 kids to pose for a pic is next to impossible, but we had fun.  I also got the chance to play around with the continuous shooting mode on my camera again and the motion settings for the first time.

Would you be interested in hearing what I’ve learned about my camera so far?  If so, I’d love to share a post on it, just let me know.
