One Room Challenge: Week 5 – Airy & Colorful Shared Bedroom

Today marks week 5 of Linda’s One Room Challenge!  If you’ve just started following along with my project to makeover my kids’ room, checkout the previous weeks here.

It’s down to the wire, and I’m busy trying to wrap up all the little details for the space.  One of the projects I had planned for the space has somewhat fallen through, so I’m scrambling to see if I can salvage it before the big reveal next week.  That’s been a bit stressful, but overall I’m really enjoying this challenge.

Here’s a little peek of the items that will be added to the room.  I’m planning to have a gallery wall where the TV will be.  We’re just waiting on the new TV before hanging everything.

I bought the plane almost 3 years ago in a pregnancy hormone-induced shopping trip.  I absolutely fell in love with it and just knew that my baby boy would love it just as much as I did.  And I was right!  He loves it, and I can’t wait to hang it in the room.

Throughout the past few weeks, I’ve realized there are a few things about this process that I can incorporate into decorating the rest of my home.

1.  Breaking projects into manageable chunks saves me time and headaches.  This makes the project much less daunting and easier to tackle if I consider it one step at a time, as opposed to trying to do everything all at once.

2.  Having a well thought out plan at the start is necessary for me.  It makes the project much less overwhelming.  Also, I’m learning that it’s okay if those plans change.

Overall, this challenge has been really fun, and I hope to participate with Linda in the future!

  1. Planning each week ahead and having little goals really did make this more manageable, but working under pressure sure was the most motivating part. Your Kids’ room is really coming together nicely. You’ve found a perfect way to mix styles for your son and daughter! Good luck in the final week – the room is going to look great!

  2. Great tips! I love the accessories you pulled together especially that sweet picture of brother and sister holding hands. 🙂 Can’t wait to see your reveal next week!
