HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A new year always brings new inspiration for me.  The same can be said whenever a new school year is on the horizon (will I ever outgrow that feeling?).  I have many goals for the years to come.  Not resolutions.  Goals.  And my goals focus on “more”.

More self-discipline.  When I was in school (both undergraduate and graduate), my level of self-discipline was off the charts and it really allowed me to accomplish quite a lot.  I feel like I’ve let that quality slip a bit, so now I want to focus on tapping into that and using my time more wisely.

More action, less perfectionism.  Perfectionism is a slippery slope.  It sets me up to really take pride in my work, but I also find it stifling.  Whenever I’m struggling to get something just right, I tend to push it aside if it doesn’t turn out as perfect as I imagine it should.  I’m aiming this year to let go of that apprehension and just go.  If things turn out less than what I anticipate, instead of looking at that as a loss, I’ll see it as a lesson.

More newness.  In 2016, I welcome all new experiences, new perspectives, and new adventures.  Enough said.

More stamps in my passport.  I love to travel and to see new places.  This year, I want to do much more of that, especially with my children.

So that’s it!  None of that ‘New Year, New You’ mumbo jumbo.   Just more focus on making me the best Kim I can be.

What are some of your new goals?
