Coffee Table Styling Tips

This quick tip video is all about coffee table styling. I’m walking you through a few simple layouts, explaining how to get the most out of your design.

For starters, I think the most important tip would be to make sure it looks good from all sides. Use items that display well from all angles. In this case, you might think to avoid picture frames because they have a back side that isn’t the prettiest. However, you could still counter that by placing an object at the rear of the frame that both works with the design and takes away the view of the back of the photo frame. But essentially, to make this an easy process just try to avoid one-sided objects where possible.

I like to use a tray to ground the items on the table and to set the foundation. This way it won’t appear that everything is just strewn all about. In the case of a really large coffee table, you can create zones. One end might have a round tray filled with small objects, while the other end has a stack of coffee table books and a grouping of candles. It all fills the large space of the table but every grouping or zone makes visual sense.

Adding in some greenery helps to add life to the space. And it can be real or faux, whatever you’re most comfortable with. Home stores do offer some really great looking faux options for those of us who do not have the greenest of thumbs. Cut flowers, as well as small plants, would work here, as well.

Add height to the display. With the objects you’re using, be sure to vary their heights. This will also add visual interest and keep the eye moving along the table in an appealing way. Grouping too many things on the table will also do this but in a negative way. The eye will read it as way too much going on, so be mindful of not piling too much on the table.

Don’t forget about under the table. Sometimes you can utilize that space, also, especially in a more casual environment by adding a large, low basket there that may house extra magazines, extra throw blankets, or anything else that both adds to the design and is functional for your use of the space. For this, you would use something large in size to help ground this entire area.

And there you go. A few simple, quick tips to help you style a coffee table. Please like the video and share it if you found it helpful and comment down below with any questions.
