Pleasing Palette: Navy & Bordeaux

I’m still loving the crisp Fall air and warm tones of the season. I do know my tune will soon change as Winter weather looms, but I’m okay with that. For now, I’m crushing on a new-to-me color combo – Navy & Bordeaux. I’ve been known to combine some crazy colors and patterns, but I’ve never tried this combo. I think I’ve always felt Bordeaux/burgundy was too matronly, but with the trend showing up in richer, warmer tones, I’m kind of loving it.

Random side note: I’ve ALWAYS loved navy blue. In 8th grade, my wardrobe consisted of 80% navy blue clothes – shoes, sneakers, skirts, sweatshirts – and no I did not attend private school. When I realized this, I was a bit traumatized (dramatic, much?) and sad that I’d have to start incorporating more colors into my wardrobe. I have no clue why I thought that would be so monumental and earth shattering for me, but I really struggled not to choose the navy blue option when those choices arose. I also have no idea why I HAD to choose other colors. I guess I thought my weirdness would somehow become more apparent if people started to notice I only wore navy blue clothes…..I know I’m weird sometimes, and now I can fully embrace that. I guess this explains why my daughter is so overly dramatic and charmingly opinionated. I certainly know where she gets it from!
