Master Bedroom Plans – UPDATED!
Here’s where we last left off with my master bedroom plans. Since I’m focusing on other areas in my home right now, nothing much has actually materialized from my plans, but there are some updates…
There’s a bit too much brown in this room for my taste and since the veneer on the top of my thrifted vanity has seen better days, I’m planning to just paint the whole thing a medium gray color. I want to use an eggshell or satin paint finish and add a large brass pull on the drawer. (That chair is just a temporary solution and will be replaced with something more in line with the room.) The inspiration for my color choice is this kitchen above.
I want to replace our current mirrored nightstands with a DIY version inspired by Addicted2Decor. Instead of the Greek key base, I’m going to go with something simpler and paint the whole thing a deep jewel-tone green color. I would also do the raised tabletop using thicker mdf and cover it with an ivory shagreen vinyl similar to this.
The upholstered headboard will be a simple shape with nail head trim, like the photo above. I’m thinking I’d like to do this in either light-colored velvet or linen. We plan to DIY this since we’re pretty familiar with making simple headboards.
More abstract art is in the works for the walls, inspired by the Colors fabric by Lulu DK, using colors more in tune with my color scheme.
I’ve always planned to use wall lamps so we don’t have to sacrifice much table surface on the already smaller-scale nightstands. Though I’ve been leaning towards something brass like the ones above, I was quite impressed with the one on the left from Ikea. I spotted them when I was there a few months ago and couldn’t help but be drawn in by the black and white cording. They’re a little quirky but I really like them. Still not sure if they fit the vibe of our bedroom, though.
The chandelier will be different than the one pictured above, too. I want some bling and some interest but nothing super feminine. A flush mount fixture might be better for our low ceilings, but I still haven’t found a reasonably priced one I love.
At any rate, an updated mood board is in the works…
