It’s still quite gloomy and snowy here in the north east. Fortunately, the temps are expected to rise in the next few days, accompanied by rain storms. At this point, anything sounds better than another 6-10” of snow. The doldrums of winter are beginning to catch up to me.
In order to hold them off a bit longer, I figured I needed some freshening up, both in my home and here on the blog. Fresh flowers have made an appearance again. Even though I have quite a few houseplants, I always forget how good bright, colorful flowers make me feel.
I started patching up the risers on the stairs, too. Soon, I’ll be sanding, priming, and painting them. For some reason, I thought this would take forever but it’s really a quick project that I should have tackled long ago. The painting and priming (of both the risers and balusters) will have to wait until the kids are tucked in for the night, and since I tend to fall asleep right after them, that means it’ll get done on the weekend.
I changed the header on the blog (again)….just because. I even fixed my broken About page and added some new pictures there. I’m working on getting some after pictures together for the House Tour page. Speaking of which…
My new camera lens arrived and I’m so happy! I didn’t mention it here, but one week after my warranty expired, I accidentally dropped my camera (!!!). It looked like only the mount on the lens had broken, but there was really no way to tell if there was more damage until I tried taking pictures with a new lens. I’m happy to report my camera now works beautifully! And after picking up a few tips on white balance here, I set up an impromptu photo shoot. And I shot the whole thing in MANUAL! I’m so proud of myself.
Things are busy around here. I’m gearing up for BirthdayGate 2014 and we have an unexpected leak. But I’m not stressing out one bit. I plan to enjoy the birthday celebrations in stride and I have my fingers crossed that maybe this unexpected repair leads to a great blessing, like an early kitchen reno. A girl can dream, right?
