{Loving} Fiddle Leaf Fig Trees

I’ve loved fiddle leaf fig trees for quite a few years.  Once I realized I was truly in love with them and not just brainwashed into a current trend, I decided to add one to our happy home.  There were two problems, though.

PROBLEM #1: After much research, I realized they require quite a bit of sunlight.  Since my home does not get much direct light, I wasn’t sure if I could actually keep one alive.

SOLUTION: Since I’ve decided to add some much needed privacy to my home using clear contact paper, I can now get an abundance of sunlight streaming through my dining room windows.  Perfect!

PROBLEM #2:  These puppies are expensive!  I can understand a 10 year old, 7-foot tree being sold at a premium, but for nurseries to sell short 4-foot trees for over $100, that’s quite ridiculous.  I honestly thought my days of owning one of these beauties would have to wait until I won the Powerball until…..
SOLUTION: IKEA!!!! Yes, they sell fiddle leaf fig trees around the 2-3ft size range for a whopping $12.99!  Can you believe it?  I sure couldn’t until I high-tailed it over there one extremely rainy and windy September evening.

She’s my Fiddle Leaf Fig tree and she’s grown quite well for the last few months here.  Unlike her more expensive counterparts, this pot came with 5 stalks instead of the usual 1 or 2.  I plopped her plastic pot right into a sea grass trash can I picked up from Home Goods   I wasn’t sure if mid-September would have been too late to re-pot her, so I’m sure this will do until the Spring.

Aren’t Fiddle Leaf Fig trees pretty?
