Spring Cleaning

Springvia

Today is the third day of Spring and my mind is already frantically crazed trying to get a handle on my Spring Cleaning schedule. It seems that my weekly cleaning habits are really lacking in some areas. I’ve been distracted by so much that I haven’t really found the time to keep my home as sparkly clean as I like it. Not to mention, the gloominess of Winter can sometimes make me feel like cleaning is the last thing I’d want to do anyway.  Since we can’t quite afford the maid we so desperately need (and I probably wouldn’t even trust anyone to do things the way I like them), I really need to kick my butt into gear and figure out a way to make this work for a neat freak with no real time on her hands like me.

Coincidentally, Jen from IHeartOrganizing has come up with a challenge to help those in the same boat as myself. Basically, it’s a cleaning format that focuses on completing 4 tasks per day, 4 tasks per month, and a list of 20 daily tasks to be completed on weekdays.   Sounds confusing but check it out on her site.  She calls it the Clean Home Challenge, and it really is a great way to tackle the cleaning chores in stride while still having enough time to devote to more important things, like spending time with family. It’s genius and has me asking why I hadn’t thought of it.

At any rate, I’m going to challenge myself to adopt this cleaning schedule for a month to see how it goes. It’s also encouraging me to get back to making more of my own cleaning products. I do still make my own bathroom cleaner and laundry detergent, but I’ve gone back to buying things like glass cleaner and scrubbing powder. I’m going to try some of Jen’s recipes out while I’m at it, too.
